Soundpainting Teacher Certification Program

Teachers can become certified in the basic Soundpainting gestures and learn how to incorporate the language into their established arts curricula. Certification is attained by attending a 5-day course in which participants train in the teaching and conducting/composing of Soundpainting. The 5-day course is taught by Walter Thompson with members of The Walter Thompson Orchestra.

In addition to training in the basic Soundpainting gestures, teachers receive instruction on the applications of Soundpainting in education through the following topics:

  • Fostering Personal Creativity in the Classroom
  • Multidisciplinary and Interdisciplinary Applications of Soundpainting
  • Strategies for Adapting Soundpainting Into Existing Curricula
  • Assessing Soundpainting
  • Soundpainting and the Multiple Intelligences Theory
  • Soundpainting and the National Standards for Arts Education

Participants will also receive the Soundpainting Teachers Workbook, video recordings of their Soundpainting conducting/composing sessions, and the Soundpainting Teacher Certificate. The Soundpainting Teacher Certification Program certifies teachers to use Soundpainting in their classrooms and makes them eligible for further training in the Soundpainting language.
